After the highly successful implementation of the preparatory school in the previous year, the NanoPoli Center is once again opening a call for preparatory courses in chemistry for university entrance exams. We can proudly say that all of our participants from previous editions have enrolled in their targeted faculties. The experience from the previous cycle has enabled us to further improve the program and adapt it to the particular requirements of entrance exams in our country and the region.

This year, classes will also take place in smaller, dynamic groups, which has proven to be an effective way of learning and understanding the curriculum. Students will be assigned to groups in accordance with the targeted faculty, with clearly defined literature and an interactive approach that encourages understanding and problem solving.

The team of instructors this time again consists of NanoPoli Center associates, who hold BSc in chemistry and are close in age to students and have experience working both in academia and in education. During their studies, they achieved high academic results, participated in scientific and international projects in the field of innovative chemistry.

When and where?

Period of preparatory classes: Feb 01-June 30, 2025.

Time: every Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm

Location: Multimedia Hall of the Innovation Center Banja Luka (Mladena Stojanovića 4)

How to apply?

Send a short application to: info@npcentar.org

In the application, please state your name and surname, the high school you attend, and the faculty (and university) for whose entrance exam you are preparing.

What’s next?

Division into groups that meet the requirements of the entrance exams.

Monthly preparation price (4 sessions of 2 hours + short break): 100 KM

With the desire to help you achieve your dreams, NanoPoli Center invites you to prepare together!

WINTER IN MOSTAR NOT ABARRIER FOR SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION

The scientific and research community in Bosnia and Herzegovina is small, but it is connected and intertwined with common desires for progress. We were honored to be part of the conference entitled “Strategy for the Use of Research Resources in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Development”. The conference was held on 16.12. in Mostar, in the INTERA Technology Park and under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science.

We were panelists and emphasized the importance of uniting research capacities in our country, regardless of which university, educational or scientific institution it is, and also regardless of whether it is an institution from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina or the Republika Srpska. In such a small country, it is irrational to purchase expensive analytical instruments in multiple locations, while all scientists have the same goals. These are: improving education and strengthening the domestic industrial base, while preserving the environment by applying the best standards.

The focus of the conference was the ubiquitous artificial intelligence. The NanoPoly Center, as always, emphasized that it is important to keep up with these advanced capabilities, but to promote the ethical use of data as early as possible (even to very young students). We shared with our colleagues through the panel our commitment to taking care of the continuity of healthy “classical” thinking as a way to preserve the cognitive abilities of young people.

CONVENTION IN ROMANIA: CLIMATE, CITIES AND US

CONVENTION IN ROMANIA: CLIMATE, CITIES AND US

We had the honor of participating in the “M100” convention organized by our colleagues from the city of Bucharest at Ion Mincu University. They presented to us their way of participating in the European Union’s Climate Mission 4, which promotes “smart cities” through adaptations to reduce the impact on climate change. Romania has gone a step further in this important activity. In addition to receiving EU support for 3 cities, the state itself has decided to finance changes in 10 more cities.

They hosted numerous colleagues from all over Europe, and we learned a lot and listened with pride to the story of our fellow citizens from Sarajevo. Namely, the functional urban area of Sarajevo, which consists of the Canton of Sarajevo, the City of Sarajevo and the City of East Sarajevo, also signed their own climate agreement. The greatest success of this initiative is the recent renovation of the tram network and the purchase of 25 new trams and 25 new trolleybuses, which allows a large number of citizens to rely on public transport and thus reduce the impact of car exhaust on pollution and climate change itself. A “citizens’ assembly” was also established, which now has a voice on this topic and the opportunity to participate in changes.

These good practices should be replicated and make using public transport a “cool” option for young people as well, which is an absolute key to success.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is the 5th country in Europe for the amount of water per capita, and full of incredible natural wonders such as the waterfall in the city center (Jajce), canyons (Tara, Vrbas, Neretva, Krupa…) and the most winding river in Europe – Šuica! Projects like “BLUENEW”, in which our partners Lir evolution participate, work on water conservation.

Preserving the even permeability of the soil in cities prevents floods and thus preserves the riverbeds. Less concrete, more greenery, and those two combined into one: tall buildings that take up less space but with green facades that reduce overheating and save energy.

We congratulate Dr. Milana Radujković from Banja Luka on her first defence of first PhD on this topic at University of Banja Luka. NanoPoli Center will follow the promotion of such ideas with great curiosity. Good luck to LIR in work on BLUENEW projekt.

NanoPoly Center has the great honor to host Ms. Miho Shimizu, holder of MSc in history from the University of Sarajevo. Japan is the largest post-war donor for the reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and its donations have been the most purposeful. Namely, the Japanese Government has mainly renovated schools, built schools, supported the purchase of modern medical equipment, and built bridges on our rivers. However, perhaps the most important “bridges” and “living” donations have been scholarships for students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have brought knowledge of modern technologies back home in recent decades. Ms. Shimizu, however, will show us what it was like to be a scholarship holder and student at the University of Sarajevo in the 1970s, and present us with important messages from Japanese classic films. Together with former Japanese Government Scholars from our country, join us for this education in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Venue: Multimedia Hall of the Innovation Center Banja Luka (Mladena Stojanovića 4)

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025

GREEN AND DIGITAL, BUT ETHICALLY

GREEN AND DIGITAL, BUT ETHICALLY

Technology park Intera, Mostar, hosted on the „Digitalisation in green economy“ speakers from areas of investments in green principles in agriculture, material industry, meteorology… We liked very much the presentation on „green fashion“ methods for online sharing and recycling of the clothes, emphasizing the need to decrease the impulsive clothes shopping. Let’s get dressed in the charisma and charm!

We spoke about our vision on the threats in using the AI in drafting the scientific papers, by people who are not sufficiently trained in this area. Original intellectual property can be robbed from you with one click if the a member of the scientific team copies the unpublished data into the AI for grammar, literature check or similar. Until the clear legislation, protecting the scientific data is here, maybe it is better that we rely on the good old human brain!

The award for the best entrepreneurial and innovative idea of high school students in the Adriatic-Ionian region was won by our protégés Eva Kuruzović and Lidija Wolf. It was an honour for us to mentor these two special young ladies together with the Innovation Center Banja Luka.

The international competition for innovation and entrepreneurship, POPRI International, was held this year on May 6-7, 2025 on the Greek island of Crete, and our team as the high school representatives won first place! The students presented their idea under the name “ReGlass” (Idea Description: Transforming the approach to glass recycling with a sustainable and innovative solution). The POPRI competition is held annually as a side event of the EUSAIR Forum and bring together young people from 10 EUSAIR countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, San Marino, Serbia and Slovenia).

The business innovation community in the Balkans has new stars!
